Music
As audiophiles, between the current to the next upgrade, sometimes forget what was the initial purpose:)
As a matter of fact I tried to search for good music recommendations on the local jazz or classical music forums.
I discovered that the real group real passionate listeners available to listen to online are audiophiles.

Here is a very short list to taste from my musical taste.
Colorful cream de la cream from the upper shelf - 4 u.
The first two are also related to bass and woofers.

Jaco Pastorius
The Birthday Concert
|
Talking about bass..So this is THE bass player, and this is his best one.
Jaco Pastorius is the best bass guitar player in the world.
He is going fretless (no signs on the guitar like with violin or contrabass).
In this magnificent great sound live concert he is playing with a dynamic powerful jazz-fusion big band .
* His drummer here is like a gentle machine-gun:)

Charley Mingus
Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus |
Lets move to the jazz section session ( i love jammm;).
Jazz is the main stream on my sys and we will continue with bass issues but now, this is the best from the best of jazz bass.
Charley Mingus, the greatest contrabassist with a backing of big band brass section that deliver the goods!!
You know, bass tone is supposed to push and support the tune.
Here, you cannot tell who pushes who and this is the secret of this piece.

Dizzy Gillespie
Something Old, Something New
|
The above is above because of the bottom end (bass). But this one is above all. This is definitely the best CD I have. This bibop style jazz is absolutely perfect i. Dizzy Gillespie the musician that I most admire is dancing and jumping along with James Moody (sax). Trumpet brings the music in your face and Dizzy does it the best.
You can compare Gillespie to Jimmy Hedrix, there are maybe more OMG technical educated players, but when you hear the both of them you feel like the instrument is an organ of their body that reflect their soul to the audience – not less than that!

Al DiMeola
John McLaughlin
Paco DeLucia
Friday Night in San Francisco |
I heard this masterpiece hundred of times and I had it also on a vinyl.
Listen(!), as a guitar player, each and every time I am on it I start to want to tear my hear from my head.
This is a gang of three master flamenco guitar players that will take you to sky high!
Virtuous, colorful, surprising and full of mail ego..:)
check this youtube (the version on the CD is betterr!)

Carlos Kleiber,
Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
Beethoven: Symphonies 5 & 7 |
In classical I will note only one important and special. Every music store has a poster of this wrap and it has a reason. The very famous tunes that everyone knows the beginning but here you can listen to the rest of the story. I believe I have nearly five or six versions of those symphonies and there are countless out there - this CD is the way to know and undersatnd those tunes magics.
I believe this is the most important classical record that exist.
&
by the way – crisp recording and sound!

Björk
Gling-Gló |
Not only 4 Björk lovers!
Bjork is maybe one of the only two electro related music that like I to listen to.
I have sections of music in my collection: rock, classical, jazz, world-folk and ..Bjork :) cause as my ears understand she is related only to herself.
I should put her first on the this llist, because she is the best for demonstrating and testing sub-bass system performances because of all her elecrto low great bass albums: Post, Homogenic, Vespertine and Volta. This recommendation is unique! This album is completely jazz one and excluding the last two English songs it is all in Icelandic!! Those songs are her very first(!) studio recordings (jazz roots like all the best..).
Taste this youtube - the video is not a recording from the album, which sound and performances are much better and great!
* The last two English songs are musical style.

Led Zeppelin
BBC Sessions |
I assume you already know this gang band.. by the way the way the singer is a relative of mine (inside joke hi hi hi).
& I had Jimmies guitar (this is not ajoke, it is a tragedy!!)
Those are special recordings recorded at the BBC studios.
I am listening mainly to those very performances.
The special ones 4 me are the originals.
(2 CD`s).

Jimmy Hendrix
Blues |
As a voodoo chile, b4 starting to play the guitar, I heard there is a guru named Hedrix.
So I got Electric Ladyland
that was nice start afterwards putted my hands on Are You Experienced. When I finaly came to the blues album I knew that I have reached the shore.
This album is like a school to electric blues strat` playing. The playing is sometimes tense deep slow blues and always has the happiness and joy of playing of the magician.
Above all, Ladies and Gents, in this case the recording is crisp!! While you listen, ou can isolate every tone, note and solo, and every instrument and player intention is well defined, the performances are superb and virtuosic as usual.
This album is HENDRIX. |
